On April 14, 2015, I had the pleasure of presenting a "Healthcare Industry Market Outlook" at the LogiMed USA 2015 conference in San Diego, CA. Attendees included senior supply chain executives from health systems, manufactures and services providers.
The key themes of the presentation were the headwinds and tailwinds facing the US healthcare industry in 2015, as it attempts to recover from a 7-year stagnation in growth. Fueled by the Great Recession of 2008, the industry saw its 40+ year growth history stall. While recovery appeared to occur in late 2014, headwinds (consumerism, value-based care initiatives, transparency) were competing with tailwinds (aging population, improving economy, increased enrollment in health insurance plans) to create on-going uncertainty.
